MECO Purified Water Plants Improve Output and Reduce Gas Turbine Emissions.
The Oil and Gas industry uses large gas turbines to power production operation off shore and on shore. The turbines produce emissions that are harmful to both humans and the environment; nitrogen oxides are of greatest concern. These compounds are serious respiratory irritants, cause acid rain and produce ozone. One effective method for reducing turbine emission while improving power output is the injection of water in the combustion chamber or air intake of the turbine.
Oil companies in the Gulf of Mexico and Yemen are using MECO multi-pass reverse osmosis units followed by ion exchange to meet their requirements of increasing power output by 7-10% and reduced emissions. These systems produce a water quality of 16-18 megohm-cm from seawater and brackish water feed sources.
The above cases are examples of MECO solutions customized to meet specific applications and particular customer needs. It is particularly satisfying that these provided solutions have the dual positive effects of improving the environment and a financial reward to the client at the same time.
