Vapor Compression Case Study
Situation
- A drilling company in Abu Dhabi, UAE constructed four camps for the exploration and development of oil and gas fields deep in the desert.
- Freshwater must be produced from highly saline and abnormally hard well waters
- Water quality can change from well to well, and is beyond the capability of reverse osmosis.
Solution
- Vapor Compression was deemed to be the process of choice.
- MECO provided each camp with two units, rated at 10,000 gallons per day each.
- The units were totally packaged, and shop tested at MECO prior to shipment, and with minimum requirement for field installation.
- Installation and service support, including spare parts and chemicals, were provided locally by UTS (local agent), who maintain a workshop and personnel skilled in the operation and maintenance of MECO systems.
