An oil drilling company operating offshore Nigeria had requirement for potable water, rig wash water, and for high purity boiler feed water.
The rig has significant amount of waste heat available.
The location is in shallow water subject to high levels of turbidity.
Solution
MECO provided a waste heat watermaker rated at 20,000 gallons per day of distilled water.
The watermaker operated on waste heat from engines, but also utilized a supplemental steam heat exchanger with a circulation system, whenever engine load was low.
The system included a cyclone separator and pre-filter to address the high turbidity problem.
Also included were a post treatment and potabilization unit with a pressure set, and a high-pressure wash-down system.
A fully integrated control system ensured all components functioned together properly.
